Description

Microwave ablation (MWA) is a minimally invasive procedure for treating benign thyroid nodules by using heat to destroy the tissue. During the procedure, a microwave generator sends energy through a thin antenna inserted into the nodule, causing water molecules in the cells to vibrate and generate heat, which leads to cell death. It is a less invasive alternative to surgery that can significantly reduce nodule size, improve symptoms, and requires minimal recovery time
